White Cenospheres

Cenospheres, also called alumosilicate microspheres, are hollow spheres made largely of silica and alumina with diameter of 20 – 500 µm, filled with gas (mostly carbon dioxide and nitrogen).

White Cenospheres are rich in Al2O3 and have quite low content of SiO2 and Fe2O3.

White Cenospheres are not very common and they are used especially in refractory industry for their resistance to high temperature and due to their white colour e.g. in paints and coatings.

Typical applications are:
- in castables
- as light filler in special isolation concrete
- filler in refractory isolation bricks
- filler for paints, laquiers, coatings, joint compounds etc.
